Current Project — Elite Warbird
A fun small project that is currently still a Work In Progress. This game is a throwback to many other vertical scrolling "Shoot-em-up" games such as Galaga, Twin Cobra or Gun Nac.
The original art design was made by a creator known as "Fikri"; however, the size and resolution of the images didn't meet my needs. Because of this, there were many assets that I recreated from scratch myself. And some that didn't exist in the original design at all.
This project started as a learning experience for me but has become a pet project that I work on in my free time. If you'd like to give it a go, click the buttons below. And if you'd like to follow my game dev progress, please check out my Medium posts and YouTube Channel.
Game Jam — R.U.N. CTRL
This was the first project that I ever attempted solo for a game jam.
I remember the theme of the jam being “A game within a game”.
The idea for this was a simple “Endless Runner” like Temple Run or Subway Surfer.
Each time you completed the game, a cutscene would play showing the marathon runner
return to her PC and start playing the game from the beggining. Additionally, with each new
iteration, the user would have to hold an additional key on the keyboard and a new
window/monitor would open making the game smaller with each iteration as well.
This was supposed to feel eerie like someone was playing you.
Thus the title of the game R.U.N. CTRL or “Are You In Control?”
Game Jam — Extinction of the Crystal Knights
I don’t remember the Game Jam theme for this one, only that it was a joint project with a friend.
The game was intended to be a retro RPG in a similar vein to the original Zelda. But with very few mechanics as to avoid major scope creep. This was my first attempt at pixel art.
